Queer Film Database

qdf_small

New American Vision is proud to introduce the QUEER FILM DATABASE, a community-based database of new queer film.

Our beta testers responded very positively to the functionality of our initial release, so we added a few more records and are now putting it out into the world. So it's now in all of your hands! We will continue to add records from time to time, and update rights and contact info as much as possible, but we will still keep you informed about items that we think you’ll all want to know about through our monthly NAV eblasts. Please feel free to email us with anything you think we should know or anything that you would like us to share with the 300 programmers on this list. And of course, let us know immediately about any issues or suggestions you may have regarding database functionality.

This database is based on FileMaker Pro, so it should be familiar to many of you, even though it is accessible via most web browsers.

To access, go to the following URL: http://www.newamericanvision.com/queerfilmdatabase

Then, provide the username (navguest) and password (qfd2009). The follow the prompts to the NAV Queer Film Database, which should take you to a screen like the one below.

Feel free to input some records...there's even a place to write to the database manager if our database doesn't quite match up with your intended content.

Please email Orly Ravid with specific feedback.

Features include:

Programmers, please note:

This database is not meant to keep track of every single queer / LGBT submission we or you receive…if that were the case, we'd all have to freebase B12 just to keep up—that's just not the point!

What we are aiming for is to help network programmers and films / filmmakers around work that is recommended or seemingly interesting and worthy of review, at least according to the persons entering the information. This is a way for us to all help each other keep up with new material that may not be as obvious, stay connected in as broad and global a way as possible, and also perhaps cut back a tad on emails. If you experience any technical difficulties or have any suggestions or complaints please let us know.

One last note...the YouTube Video of the Sundance 2009 Digital Distribution panel from our last eblast...we realized after sending the link that the panel cuts off after 37 minutes so we are sorry about that...the remainder of the panel contained a lot more pertinent info. Maybe it will surface on the web or on iTunes at some point in time...
