December 2009 Newsletter
Dear Programmer Friends,
We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of PLAN B, which New American Vision acquired for Wolfe. NAV will handle all film festival distribution in the United States. PLAN B is directed by Marco Berger, whose short film “The Watch” played at both the Cinéfondation in the official competition of Cannes in 2008 and at Sundance in 2009.
PLAN B
About the Film:
After he is dumped by his girlfriend, Bruno plans a cold, sweet vengeance. Intent on eroding the couple's relationship, he befriends her new boyfriend Pablo. Will he introduce Pablo to another woman, or go for Plan B… and seduce him himself? Thus, Bruno embarks on a perilous romantic journey that calls his own sexuality into question in Argentine director Marco Berger's clever, witty and poetic feature film debut the repurposes the conventions of a Shakespeare-styled comedy.

One day, he meets Ezri, a handsome twenty-two year old student, and soon falls in love with him. He then starts to neglect his family and community life, swept away by his love and lust for Ezri. Queer Film Database
We are getting ready to add films to the QFD for 2010. New titles that have shown or will soon show at non-LGBT fests will up by this Monday (Dec. 14) and we'll also delete older records. We're also now working with a veteran queer film programmer (name to be announced soon) who will help us keep the film list and contact information current. Our notes will also indicate which ones we recommend and why.
New! Access through FileMaker Pro. The QFD had previously been limited to browser-only access, but for all you FileMaker Pro users out there, we're now offering direct access through the application, and some enhanced features as well, such as QuickFind, and a Reference section to store relevant web info, such as IMDB, Film Festival Sites and YouTube. All you need is Filemaker Pro 8.5 or higher.1 Just download the file, unstuff and open it, type in the password and you're good to go.2
Browser access is still available, but we think that using FileMaker will make it a lot easier for everyone to find with they are looking for and perhaps input some records of your own! We would love to enhance the interface and fields and also to commit to doing an even more thorough job. However, we'd need to find a way to monitize this to pay our film programmer and database developer, so if this more augmented service would interest you enough to pay $100 annually for it, please let us know. We are also looking into ways that we could use this to offer filmmakers them a high quality streaming solution of their films and help them save on screeners.
